A day at races!! rev up your engines!!why to be late to be registered to cross the gates of this incredible event and get ready for the death experience!!!!  
 Crossing the chequered flag was the unwavering objective for all the racing aficionados participating in ‘death drift' a car racing event on the  day of AARUUSH'17, in the techno-management fest of SRM University.

Running on nitrogen-based fuel, the little cars have to run on off road track having jumps, bridge etc. The event is fully nitro-based 1/8 or 1/10 buggy. The car should be solely operated by remote control having 2.4Ghz frequency.

Registration fee: Rs 700
Prize Money Worth: Rs 35K

         Venue: SRM UNIVERSITY.            
Dates of Death Drift: Sept 17th &18th.
From Sept 17th 9AM Onwards.


Make a wireless remote controlled machine, powered by an IC Engine that can complete a designated task efficiently i.e which can race against other opponents on an off-road dirt track with many obstacles.   

1.   The machine must use only mechanical power generated by an internal combustion (IC) engine for propulsion. Only one IC engine should be used in the machine. Use of any other sources such as chemicals, compressed gas, rockets etc. is not allowed.  
2.  However DC motors   and servos can be used for steering mechanisms or any other control mechanisms apart from propulsion.
3.  The machine must have an on-board power supply to run any mechanism requiring electric power not exceeding 48V at any point of the time during the game.
4.   The maximum allowed capacity of IC engine to be used is 4.6 cc (i.e. Participants can also use 2.5 cc, 3 cc, 3.5 cc or any other IC engine lower in capacity).  
5.   There shall be a countdown preceding the start of the race. No participant is allowed to touch the machine during the countdown period. 
6.   Providing a clutch mechanism between the engine and the wheel would prove useful, as it would prevent the engine from dying out at any stage of the race. 
7.   Participants are advised to use a proper cooling mechanism like radiators, cooling fans to prevent overheating of the engine. 
8.   Participants are advised to use sway bars for better control and stability.    
9.   The participants are advised to use proper air filters as dirt might cause serious problems to the engine. 
10.  Ready made wheels are allowed. 
11.  The machine will be inspected and if found to be dangerous, the team will be disqualified. This decision rests solely with the judges and the organizers.    
12.  This vehicle mimics a real life car and should be capable of racing on an off-road dirt track paved by a varied range of obstacles.
13.  These obstacles can range from jumping over planks to dodging closely placed pipes or even race on a zigzag path. The vehicles should even be strong enough to withstand impact as their might be a fall or a collision.
14.  Their fuel tanks should hold enough to comfortably complete the entire round of the track. On the whole this is a fascinating event where the teams race against each other or time on adverse paths to win.    

Event Format:     
A team can consist of maximum of 5 members.      
Team members can be from the same institution or different institutions  

Round 1: 
Abstract has to be registered here specifying the details of your RC car. The shortlisted teams will be invited to Aaruush'17 to participate. 

On Campus Round:
Round 2:   
Practice slots for the participating teams.

Round 3:
These round will be a technical round where you have to show your cars and explain the fabrication of it. These round carries some points that will be evaluated with the lap points.  

Round 4:
This round would be a time trial round This will be the qualifying session with each team getting 3 laps out of which the fastest lap will be considered. Note that these laps will have to be taken successively.

Round 5:
The top teams from the qualifying rounds will make it to the third round in which multiple teams will race at a time. The top teams from this round will proceed to the semi-final round.
Top teams from the semi-finals would compete simultaneously in the final round.      

1.The maximum number of  members in a team is limited to 5.
2.They may belong to different institutions.  
3.All team members must be presently enrolled in an academic institution and must carry their institute identity cards for event registration.    
4.Use of any component or mechanism in the car that could damage the arena or any other participating car would lead to immediate disqualification of the team.  
5.Practice slots would be available to the teams on the first come first serve basis on only the day 1 of the festival.  
6.The time allotted for the same would be announced on the day of the event itself.  
7.Judges Decision shall be treated as final and binding on all.  
8.The coordinators reserve the rights to change any of the above rules as they deem fit. 

Track Specification:  
1. The race track will be an off-road arena.
2. The race will be the dirt track with turns, bends, pits, S-shape,curves, bumps, puddles, hairpin bends and vertical U turn.
3. An elevated podium will be provided for controlling the machine.
4. The podium will ensure good visibility for controller.  

Machine Specification:
1. Machine should fit in a box of dimensions 700mm x 500mm x 600mm at any moment of time during the race. The external device which is used to control the machine is not included in the size constraint. 
2. The machine should be controlled by a wireless remote control mechanism throughout the race.
3. The machine must not be made from Lego parts, or any ready-made assembly kits. 
4. The machine parts may be roughly classified into structural and functional parts: Functional parts - Gears, differential gear, engine, springs, shock absorbers, servo motors (non propulsion purposes only), batteries, wheels and wheel hub can be directly used as available in the market. Structural parts - Chassis, steering mechanism, shock towers and suspension (excluding upper suspension arm, suspension spring and shock absorbers) have to be built by the participants themselves.
5. Judging for the same will be strict and the participant will be immediately disqualified and will be removed from the evet if any of the above structural components are found to be ready-made.
6. The tires must have a minimum diameter of 3 inch. You are advised to use tires of good width for better performance on dirt tracks   Brake Mechanism: It is compulsory to incorporate braking mechanism in the car. Any other part used in braking mechanism (including the brake disk) can be readymade
7. Wheel Hub: Any part rigidly attached to the wheel hub will be considered as a part of it and hence can be ready made. An example here is that of the ball stud. 
8. Steering Mechanism: Any part which is connected to steering rod rigidly i.e. has   no degrees of freedom with respect to steering rod  will be considered as part of steering rod 9.Suspension mechanism: Any part rigidly connected to  suspension arms or one with no degrees of freedom with respect to suspension arm will be considered as its part. For example both the heim joint for the upper suspension arm and the stud rigidly connected to the wheel hub can be bought from the market. 
10. If there are parts used in the concerned joint which are neither rigidly connected    with suspension or the hub, steering system or hub; they can be used ready-  made from the market. 

Race Rules:    
1. A lap is considered to be completed when the machine completes the entire track & comes back to the starting point.
2. The track will have check points at regular intervals. If a machine tumbles, or halts, or goes off the arena at any point on the track, one of the participants is allowed to place it at the nearest checkpoint. The delay time will not be deducted from the lap time and it is the sole responsibility of the participant.
3. If any of the machines starts off before the flag is waved, the timer would be restarted and the machines will get a second chance. However, if any machine starts off before the waving of flag for a second time, it will be disqualified. No re-match will be held for the second time.
4. Team members are not permitted to touch either their machines once the race begins (unless there is need to place the machine at the check point). If found not obeying the rules the team will be disqualified.
5. Teams are not allowed to intentionally damage the machine of the opponent's team. If found doing so on track (while racing), the concerned team will be disqualified. Execution of this rule will be subjective and relies completely on judges' discretion.
6. In case of any clash between two cars, the concerned participant should lift it up and place it at the nearest checkpoint behind that point.
7. Once the Race starts, only one of the team members has the right to re-position the car, none of the team members should enter the track except that particular person.
8. Judges decision will be treated as final and binding on all.
9. Team members have to bring their own things like batteries, charger etc. They are responsible for their belongings. 
10. The organizers reserve the rights to change any or all of the above rules as they deem fit. Change in rules, if any, will be highlighted on the website and notified to the registered participants.
